Thomas Taylor. It’s from Taylor’s translation of “The Hymns of Orpheus,” a set of poems attributed to Orpheus himself. Taylor published his translation from the pre-classical Greek in 1792. The passage you quoted is actually from one of Taylor’s explanatory footnotes to hymn XLI, “To Mises.”
