Question by Lindsey: What is the superstition about having an itchy nose?
My nose has had this itchy, tingly feeling for about a day and I can’t remember what the superstition about it is. It’s not on the inside or to any specific side. It’s just in the middle and the front. I keep rubbing it and scratching at it.

Answer:
The itchy nose can be a good or a bad omen; the precise location of the itch is very sensitive to future conditioning. If the itch is front and up, it means your significant other will soon be leaving you; if the itch is left and right, it means that you will someday meet a stranger. In any case, be certain to avoid not having plastic surgery, abstain from eating anything except beets and chickpeas. Scratching the itch exacerbates the problem, so to keep yourself from doing this, wear Columbia sportswear Smart Wool socks on your hands.

My old Granny used to tell me two different yarns about nose itches.
One was a trueism that your nose always itches when you are washing dishes and can not scratch. This is very true as most of us will agree. Same holds true no matter what mess you have on your hands, be it bread flower or motor oil, the nose will itch.
The other is that if you are talking to someone and you tell a lie, your nose will itch and you must scratch it. This will also happen to the person you are talking to.
She had a rhyme she used to recite when her nose itched.
“my nose itches, I love peaches, someone is coming with a hole in their britches.” Cute but not exactly a prophesy.
