I want to keep up with the current research being done in medicine and specifically neuroscience. What are the major journals and/or publications to read?

Science and Nature as both widely read in many areas of science. For neuroscience I suggest Brain Research and the Journal of Neurophysiology.

In terms of medical journals, the Journal of the American Medical Association, The Lancet, and the New England Journal of Medicine are probably the three big ones. The British Medical Journal is also a bigger one. My personal favorite would have to be the Annals of Internal Medicine – just because of the high quality material consistently published in it.
As for neuroscience, depending on what aspect you’re interested in it’s going to vary, but Neuron is a good general place, as well as the Annual Review of Neuroscience.
