Question by Sunspot: How is it that Joseph could practice divination when it’s considered to this day a sin?
Genesis 44:15
Joseph said to them, “What is this you have done? Don’t you know that a man like me can find things out by divination?”

To Him it was given as a gift from God. For others who hide in dark basements and try to achieve such things with out the consent of God, it is considered sin.

Apparently it’s ok when a Christian god believer does it, but not when other people do it.
He was pretending to be an Egyptian, remember?
Practicing divination and owning special “omen” items was common practice among them, and was all part of his act.
He needed a good excuse- why would a rich mighty ruler cry over the loss of a single cup?
