Question by Christa: How cold a PhD student be dumb enough to throw his whole life away?
The Colorado gunman was studying to get a PhD in Neuroscience. Even if he is a complete sociopath who wants to kill people, why do it in a way when he is guaranteed to get caught and spend the rest of his life in jail? Is 20 minutes of massacre fun worth sitting in a jail cell for the rest of your life? Also, a lot of sociopaths will kill discreetly like kill prostitutes late at night when no one can trace you?

I very much doubt sound logic and reason comes to mind when you walk into a cinema and shoot innocent people dead.
I have feared this happening for years. It is the perfect venue for a mass crime. When 9/11 happened I feared movie theaters would be used for a terrorist attack.
I sit in the last row last seat, as close to the door as possible.
Since 9/11 I have only attended 4 movies and have not enjoyed them.
Metal detectors would not have stopped this. He came in through back exit fire doors.
Most PhD students are psychopathic killers, it’s learned behaviour – usually they grow out of it after their viva voce.
Actually, scientists are some of the most heartless people I know, not all, but the most heartless are scientists. You see, they get a pass to dissect the human body from society because it will “benefit” the greater good. Take a trial study where the drug is found to cause heart attacks after three months of continued use. Sure, there will be lawsuits, but the researchers won’t ever be jailed because they followed procedure. They killed people, but they don’t “deserve” jail. Don’t get me wrong, a small percentage of studies show that some medicines are benefical, and ergo, good. But, still.
Furthermore, this man was a neuroscientist. He might have conducted many studies and found that the human criminal mind isn’t much different than the non-criminal mind. That may have confused him in the areas of right and wrong, and therefore, felt it was okay to do what he did. Also, in studying criminal behavior, he may have done an MRI himself and found out that he had psychopathic tendencies. Then, he might have studied the fame of other killers, and decided that he was meant for (pardon me…) “greatness”.
So, he probably decided that TDK would be the best choice because of the darkness of the film. I don’t really think he is a fan, though, because he painted his hair red, but called himself the joker. I believe the joker’s hair has always been green.
he wanted the attention, he wanted people to fear him… and with all this media, it’s easy to say he got what he wanted. unfortunately Innocent people suffered for one mans 15 minutes
