Question by The Forgotten: In what ways, at a physics standpoint, is cancer either caused or “cured”?
I have to do a project for IB (group 4 project) and it has to be about physics. Group 4 is the other sciences (physics, chem., and bio.) and I need to present a topic on “what ways cancer is either caused or ‘cured’ based on physics”. I have some stuff on cellphones causing it. You don’t really HAVE to research it but just some ideas would be really helpful.
If you could answer today, the “best answerer” would be chosen by tomorrow morning.

i dont have time to answer this properly as i have to go to bed, but basically physics deals with electromagnetic radiation.
certain types of electromagnetic radiation cause cancer because they mess with cells in the body, causing mutations and bad things to occur, resulting in cancer when these cells are replicated many times. the stronger (more energetic, ie. shorter wavelength) radiation you are exposed to, the more damage it causes you.

however, electromagnetic radiation can be used to treat cancer. many beams of weak electromagnetic radiation can be concentrated on the cancer to destroy the cancer without harming the bodily tissue that radiation is passing through.
