Question by guitarman: How can your mental health get worse after you see a therapist?
I can’t figure this out. I go see this therapist and I don’t like her. But they won’t let me have another therapist unless I go before a long drawn out red tape process. But anyways, I call up to get another appointment and the soonest they can get me in is like a month from now. So I told the receptionist, “Somehow my mental health gets worse after I call or visit the mental health association.”

well if a therapist gives you stress than thats all it takes because your supposed to talk to people that you trust not crazy chicks or people you don’t like

You are quite possibly seeing the wrong therapist, someone who is not right for you. Having to see someone you don’t trust could be making it worse. Since you don’t mention your country, it’s difficult to recommend a way around this. Perhaps see someone else on the side. Some clergy are trained in mental health. It wouldn’t have to be someone of your own faith, actually. You might get a different perspective on things. Good luck 🙂
It sounds like you and this therapist got off on the wrong foot, and now you’ve completely decided that she can’t help you, (which basically eliminates any chance of working with her effectively). You gotta understand, just going to see a therapist doesn’t make everything perfect. You and your therapist need to work together to explore issues and come up with exercises that you can do on your own. If you’ve already decided that you don’t like this therapist, then you’re not going to listen to him/her and you wont get better. Successful counseling comes only with when equal efforts are given by therapist and patient.
If you REALLY aren’t willing to try and work with this therapist, then I would say the whole “red tape process” might be worth going through. Only you can decide that…

at first, for the simple fact that they make you talk
about things that you try to repress in your memory
and dont try to think or talk about much.
talking about the problems you have definitly going
to make you feel worse at first but in time when you start to
accept the problems that you have, it will make you feel much better.

its just a theory but maybe you are unwillingly making it seem like you are getting worse because you do not like youre therapist or you do not like the idea of having one
