Question by illraxvional threxzom: Is there any religion or theory that believes human consciousnesses continues on-?
Inside a corpse after brain death? I’ve never heard of such a theory or idea. I think most people agree that cadavers have no consciousness at all and if consciousness continues after brain death, than it most be in some sorta spirit or ghost form. But is there any religious or paranormal theories about cadavers retaining consciousness at some level.
Athiest but does anybody believe that the afterlife happens within the corpse?
I’m agnostic. I just want to know if a religion exists that believes this idea or something similar to it.
I should have asked this question differently than I did. The actual question is ‘ Are their any religions or paranormal theories that consciousness continues within a corpse?
I will ask this question again in a different way. David D came close to answering it. So he will get best answer unless someone else changes their answer, or another person answers it properly.

almost every religion believes that there is an afterlife
there is no evidence of an afterlife.
I don’t believe in an afterlife. When we die, we simply cease to exist.

yes many Christians believe this….THE BIBLE SAYS THE body sleeps till either rapture or judgment…but God saves our memories in heaven…we do know that much.
Most religions beleive there is an afterlife, it’s a way of keeping the followers loyal to them.
NOT REALLY, THE BODY DECAYS…………..//
.
AND BRAIN DEATH OCCURS LESS THAN AN HOUR AFTER DEATH……..//
.
Not unless you are a vampire or a zombie. The concept of the soul, or spiritual nature of man, is completely different from what you describe.
How about scientific;
No!
With out oxygen the brain can’t function that why lack of it makes them pass out. After you deprive it of oxygen, it’s over baby!
There is a scientific law. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed only transformed.
All Abrahamic religions believe in an afterlife.
That is continuation of consciousness.
But it is not attached to the body.
Should consciousness continue than there would be life.
Since religion deals with the aspect of an afterlife, therefore any material aspect cannot be included into that ‘sphere’.
What could ensue is to ‘account’ for past experiences that would be fixed and cannot be changed.
The consciousness cannot function on that level, since what would be ‘right and wrong’ would all have set in and retributions for these acts would then ensue.
Religion has proof. just not scientific proof. but logical proof.
its logical to believe that everything that started has to have a beginning, we know that the universe began like 13.75 billion years ago. so before that there was no universe. but God, is suppose to be eternal. outside the laws of causation. he is the un-caused cause. so he was before the universe. and since he was never created, he doesn’t have a superior god.
