Question by allyouneedislove: Why is the world and life so strange and why can’t we know? My long Philosophy i’ve been wanting to share?
I’m not quite sure if yahoo answers is the right place to post this but it was the first thing that came to my mind
I guess I don’t have an exact “Question” to ask anyone in particular, but more of a theory and i’d like responses and your opinion. A lot of it may seem very weird to some people, or hard to understand. So don’t jump to absurd ignorant rational conclusions or opinions before reading it all. Be open minded. My philosophy is basically questioning why we have life.
I am 16 years old. Keep reading. Age is completely irrelevant to philosophy. Through out my short years, I’ve been more curious than most kids at any age. During middle school is when I developed an interest in theories and why the world exists. I was fascinated about the new ideas I had been introduced to. I was raised a catholic, so at a young age although I was fascinated I held onto my catholic faith.
Now it is my senior year of high school. Still, nevertheless fascinated on the mysteries of life – but now I have dropped my religion in a sense that I just want to find truth. By chance I ended up in a class called “Philosophy of knowledge” (by chance I mean in my high school you are able to choose your electives, and if that elective class is full the guidance counselors put you in a random class)
In this class I have learned about many, many old philosophers, religions, sense perception, language, mathematics etc. (Any one familiar with the International Baccalaureate program, philosophy of knowledge uses the same syllabus and book as I.B Theory of Knowledge)
This class made me take a huge leap in my quest to find truth.
Now, the confusing stuff… (I barely know where to start so excuse me if it seems very random)
It was hard to break free from my Catholic religion since all of my family is VERY strong catholics. I’m still at a confusing time in my life – I’ve always believed that god absolutely exists. Now, You could say I’m doing what Rene Descartes did. I’m trying to start over. I want to clear all of my past knowledge and only build up from what I can know. I want to believe in god and to erase the idea of god is nearly impossible and is going to be hard to do. It is absurd for ANYONE to believe that god truly exists (KEEP READING i know that statement will upset people) It isn’t absurd for people to have faith god exists, but NOBODY knows for sure if god does exists. Sure, someone may have said they have seen god, but whomever they tell is only reliant on what the other said- they have no fact upon themselves, for they didn’t encounter the experience.
Secondly
Time and space do not exist.
Dimethyltryptamine is the closet thing to “truth” we can reach and is where we can find the answers to life (possibly)
How can time not exist? Time is a human concept. If humans did not think – the idea of time would have never been born. Sure time makes sense . We can all agree there is a past present and future and flows sequentially. But, the idea of “Time” is only a concept. Seconds, Minutes, years, etc are all modified and invented by human beings. So in that reality, time doesn’t exists. Life just goes.
For the same reason as time, Space doesn’t exist. Space is too a human concept of how many inches, meters, yards, miles, volume, mass, in, on, outside of or upon an object. Space makes perfect sense too doesn’t it? Yes. But If humans didn’t consciously concept the idea of space, it wouldn’t exists. (Rational idea – But nobody would know.)
This brings me to dimensions.
YES DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS DO EXIST BEYOND OUR 3-D LIFESTYLE.
just because an area isn’t in a physical form does not mean the area does not exist. in that case, your dreams are another dimension.
Dimensions make more sense when I explain Dimethyltrytamine (DMT)
DMT is produced in the pineal gland in the human brain – It is also found in every living organism / plant, so yes. grass contains DMT. DMT is what causes you to dream at night. During REM sleep, DMT is released and therefore creates a dream. DMT is also released at death.
DMT can be extracted from plants and taken. This causes serious psychedelic effects.
DMT isn’t a drug to get high off of, it is a life changing experience one must be ready for.
DMT takes you into an entire other dimension. You can see colors that don’t exist- hear sounds that you’ve never heard, you can talk to “God”, you can find the answers to life. Time doesn’t exist during the trip, you see geometrical shapes, and you feel an overwhelming sense of compassion and love if you do not freak out.
Before I go to bed, right before I fall asleep. I can talk to “god” (no I’m not crazy.) Maybe it’s not god- but it answers. I’m barely awake, but I think of questions ie. why do I have life and a voice tells me “Because you do” Very broad. But all these ideas have
(got cut off after have)
But these ideas have been itching at me forever and now that i’m older and getting ready for college I can’t avoid them anymore. I can’t ignore it and even if I want to I can’t. I don’t know why. It’s like i have to pursue something but i don’t know what it is.
sorry for such a long “Question”
just had to get it out there to someone.

I suggest that you read Tertium Organum by P D Ouspensky.
DMT… is probably the ultimate mystery. You sound as though you’ve experienced it, (synthesized not endogenous) although the meme is so strong at this point that people who’ve never taken it talk confidently about it’s effects. Yes those dimensions do exist, perhaps even more so than the one you are experiencing right now. Even science is about to show this.

It’s tough being a teenager with a questioning mind. I was surprised at how few people actually ask the big questions “Why am I here?” “What is the meaning of life?” etc. Eventually everyone has to address these issues, and personally I believe that the earlier you can the better off you are.
It’s good that you feel a drive for real truth. In my own experience the truest truth comes from within. No religion or institution will ever give as much as what you find within yourself. The information obtained in psychedelics states is impossible to put into words. The real answer to the mystery of life can not be written down or spoken. It can only be experienced.
Keep thinking!
Have patience. The more you grow, the more you will know.
I’ve felt the same way with some stuff. Mostly I find where society has gone wrong and stuff, but I like your ideas. I’ve done a lot of philosophical thinking in my puny 16 years of life, but I’ve realized that my ideas are much too radical to change the world at the moment, so I must continue on my quest for knowledge and find what I can really do. But I’m also the wrong person to make a difference because I am an atheist guy, and most people think I’m nuts for my ideas, and think that there is nothing wrong with their society or religions. I don’t however think it is healthy for you to be hearing voices, even that has not happened to me (I would be really crazy by then). Good luck on getting people to like your ideas, some people don’t even accept my opinions and I have hardly been able to express myself because I’ve thought so much about everything. I respect your ideas and may incorporate them into some of my own theories of the world and society.
