That’s if you believe in the materialistic claim (brain=consciousness). If you believe in dualism, brain and consciousness are two separate things.
The best example of dualism is near death experience. People suffer cardiac arrest (heart stops) and no EEG. They start floating and looking down on people. They pass through walls and hear conversations on the other side of the hospital.
I think the aware study results will explain more on this
Consciousness, coming from mind, which is a product of the brain is our situation. It is possible that a mind could be generated by another machine that we are unfamiliar with.
Presumably, other mind-creating consciousness machines (“mindforms”, not “lifeforms”) would operate on the same natural physical principles of the universe as does our minds.
When we understand how human consciousness works better, we will gain more insight into what exactly is feasible conjecture for this, and aim our scientific searches accordingly.
Your brain gets consciousness from the spirit. Your brain is just a mechanism to enable you to function in the material world; but the material world arises from the spirit world, and God is the Supreme Consciousness that transcends all creation – all Space and Time and Matter and Energy and Dimension. All of these exist in God, but God does not subsist in these, neither is He in any way sustained by these things.
Concept of duality – the body and the soul are separate entities. Body and mind. Soul and spirit
There could possible be a place where the conscience is store, along with memory…much like a computer has a cpu (processor or brain), and it store memory on the hard drive, but not on the cpu (brain). The hard drive is then accessed by the cpu, whenever it needs information.
the hard drive is the Cosmos, and the cpu is the brain. The cosmos stores memories and conscience of man, and these are then accessed by the brain, when needed. People with brain problems, or age making them forget, cannot access the cosmos as well, therefore, their memory is bad.
When the brain is “unconsicous” such as when medicated, the cosmos cannot be accessed at all. And when a person dies, the brain ceases to function, but the conscience is still in the cosmos, and the spirit can then access it.
Pyschics have a certain amount of power which enables their brain to access the cosmos of people, thus they can see things, such as when a person dies. Pyschics have been known to see things long after the death of a person, such as when someone is killed, the psychic sees certain things, and helps the police.
This can only be done, if the conscience of the dead person was still alive, stored somewhere…that is why I believe in a storage place, the cosmos. If there was nothing stored, the psychics would not be able to get any information.
Think of a radio, receiving signals from a station miles away. If the radio breaks and cannot receive the signals, the signal is still there….it doesn’t leave just because the radio stops working.
Every living thing has what consciousness arises from, and for that matter it is obvious that one does not need a brain to have what we may call survival, reproduction, etc. instincts… Those who do not have a complex nerve center have a virtual nervous center which may materialize only if need for such arises.
The spirit dwells in the heart, not brain…
