i think that the counterculture of the 1960’s was made up of mainly hippies or hippie types. lifestyles include drugs, really good music, protesting the vietnam war, etc. the only counterculture i could maybe see today would be like the emo/goth kind of crowd but then again not really because there music isnt any good and there not really doing anything
What do you think? Answer below!
I do not have specific answer for your question, but here is something to contemplate about the reasons for the rise of the counterculture.
The generation that survived the Great Depression and World War II came back from war and wanted a “normal” life. A perfect life, with a perfect family, in a perfect house with all the latest and greatest things, think the ideal of the 1950s (Leave It To Beaver). But in reality the men and woment from that generation were the not the perfect models they pretended to be, at least not to their children.
Their children saw difference between the face that their parents put on, and the reality. This left them bitter and angry towards their parents and their seeming perfection. Think about the anger found in beat poets.
When parent who fought in World War II, came into political power there was already a trust issue among the children of these leaders, because of how they were raised. So, when the politicians said that the war was being fought for reason “x”, they did not believe them.
