Question by Gentleman Jack: Why do a lot of Christians on here think that being open-minded means accepting whatever utter crap you hear?
Do those who think so even understand what is good about being open-minded, or are they looking for a sound bite ad hominem?

Open minded is good, but there’s no sense in being so open minded that your brain falls out.
What do you think? Answer below!
they are confusing “open” with “empty”
because God loves you
Oh, but I hear some people like being very open.
…I’m confuzzled.
Why do people think that when a Christian studies another religion but then find it to be wrong that they are being closed minded?
i agree, but it’s important to note that being an atheist does not automatically make you smart or open-minded, and vice versa.
They don’t seem to understand that being open minded simply means that you’re open to new ideas, not that you’re willing to accept any and all ideas unconditionally.
In theist-speak, “be more open-minded” actually means, “believe ME, even though I can’t/won’t provide any evidence to back up my claims, and I’m unwilling to even listen to anyone else’s.”
