I’m assuming you may get at least some from societies founded by Aleister Crowley, like The Golden Dawn (allegedly founded by him, not sure myself though), A.’.A.’., The Rosey Cross, and The Thelamites.

That’s a good question. Life in modern society is certainly not conducive to a life devoted to spiritual awakening. However, the answer can be a complex one, since what is conducive to some people is not conducive to others. Generally speaking, it helps to have a calm, peaceful environment, away from all the distractions of urban life. But a community of like-minded, supportive individuals is also good.
However, I would strongly suggest *not* jumping into any major life-changes right away. For years, I believed the best way was to become a Buddhist monk or something. Just total commitment – 100%.Trust me, that’s not a good idea. I’ve learned the hard way that you move a lot farther down the road taking many small baby steps, rather than one giant leap that may end up landing you on your back.
At least an hour of meditation and prayer every day is key! That way, if you *do” become a monk or devote your life to it, you go in prepared.
So my answer is: anywhere, PLUS every so often, taking some time out from your regular life for a”spiritual vacation”. There are plenty of spiritual retreat centers the world over. It just depends on what you resonate with. For me personally, there is nothing like a 10-day vipassana retreat. You don’t need to be a Buddhist or a follower of any particular religion to do it, the centers are world-wide, and it is really just a deep and profound form of self-observation, which I think is essential to any mystical path, and to life in general.
