Question by sinamore1966: What is the penalty for a minor not completing alcohol awareness couse?
My son took alcohol to school. In Texas. Was fined 1.00 and told to complete alcohol awareness course within 90 days. No courses available locally. Online courses very expensive. DADAP courses cheaper but have to ask judge if acceptable. Community service would be ideal instead, but judge advised that she is still looking for a community service location and one may not be found.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated!!!!

If you do not take the course, your son could be charged with contempt for not following a court order. This could incur community service, fines, or time in a juvenile facility in addition to still being required to complete the course.
However, there are over 500 juvenile alcohol awareness classes in TX and I highly doubt that none are in your area.
Go to http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/offendered/oe_rosters.shtm and scroll down to “Alcohol Education Program for Minors” and you can pull up the list.
