Question by OWND: What is the chance of a ball python morph?
Hi, I want to start breeding ball pythons soon, and the pet stores near me will offer 20-30$ a piece for a standard baby ball python. I have 1 normal male and soon a normal female. Can a different ball python morph come out of 2 regular ball pythons? What is the chance of a morph coming? If morphs are possible, who can i sell the morphs to? I doubt the pet stores will take morphs.

no u will get normals. the only morph that u could ever possibly get from two normals is an albino, but that’s only by chance….and not a very high one if u only have two normales

yea how do you think they discovered morphs they just happened two normal snakes lade some eggs and one turned out to be weird and then they bred that one with another and another etc.
Good luck!!!
your going to get normals inless your super lucky you might get a albino but chances are slim
Actually, morphs are developed through selective breeding, not simply chance… and it takes generations to develop morphs, and a LOT of knowledge on genetics, etc…
The only way to have a chance of morphs when breeding ball pythons is to have animals that are heterozygous (carry a gene) for whatever morph you would like to breed… again, a knowledge of genetics will come in handy, there are also books on captive husbandry that should explain better than I can…
Before breeding any animals, you should look into your state’s regulations on selling the offspring… you may be required to have specific permits to legally sell any offspring, as for who you could sell those offspring to, you’ll have to look into that on your own… perhaps a pet store would buy them… but line it up _before_ starting your breeding program. (please, get a book on captive husbandry so that you at least have the basics down before you get into this… and put a lot of thought into it… it’s very rare for small-scale breeders to get any monetary returns on their efforts… I highly doubt you would get any morphs out of $20 – $30 specimens… and it would take several generations to develop your own morphs, and you would need more than one _UNRELATED_ pair to have any chances… inbreeding is bad… research research research)
you dont get albinos from normal x normal.. you have to have an albino and breed that to a het albino.. the normals you got would both have to bet hets for albino to get an albino baby. not likely to happen.
