Question by DesiDani: What finally made slavery become taboo in the majority of world?
No emotional answers please.

Slavery was an acceptable form of labor for centuries. You were either a slave or you weren’t. Almost every nation had benefited from some form of slavery. Even if some nations had laws banning slavery, they still didn’t see any problem with other nations having slaves. Also there were laws against the mistreatment of slaves and slaves had to be cared for life. In the ancients slaves even owned slaves.

So why is that in the 18th and 19th century did slavery slowly become taboo or not an accepted form of labor? Was it political or economical?
