The Basics Of Wiccan Magick

Magick is the power inherent in each of us from the time of the creation of the Universe. This power is so latent that it takes courage to think about it, speak about it and utilize it. Over the years, we have been told that we are just pawns for a higher God who decides what is good for us. There are many among us who have come back from near death experiences and attest to the fact that it is not God who judges us, we judge ourselves.

Magick is – believing that each of us has the ability to change or enhance ourselves or this world that is also ethereal by nature. Magick is – knowing that when we hurt others, we will be hurt sooner or later and that the hurt will be a reaction to our impure thoughts or deeds. Magick is – being aware that we are not human beings with a spirit, but a spirit being with a human body.

There were no organized religions when the world was created. Nature was the only power that the people respected and related to. People only used what they needed and they made sure that they left the earth as abundant as it was when they arrived. Life was simple. Most people invoked the spirits of nature for every occasion, such as births, deaths, weddings or rites of passage. Although most of these cultures believed in one God who was omnipotent and omnipresent, meaning that God was in each one of us as well as everything in the Universe. In most cultures, mysticism prevailed.

The magickal people read meanings into the rustle of leaves, the direction of the wind, the shape of a plant, a picture, the aroma of herbs or the incantation of a spell (mantra).

The Babylonian Magick Text, here is an incantation:

Bright oil, pure oil, shining oil,

the purifying oil of the gods,

oil which softens the sinews of man.

With the oil of incantation of Ea,

With the oil of incantation of Marduk,

I have made thee drip;

with the oil of softening which Ea has given for soothing I have anointed thee;

the oil of life I have put on thee.

The practice of Wicca (Witchcraft) was one such ancient practice that was almost decimated by the aggressive onslaught of powerful, evil, organized religions. One of the tactics of organized religions was to hunt and burn so called “pagans” who refused to follow their rules. Spreading fear in the hearts of their ignorant followers by spreading tales about demonic witch spells; they urged crowds to kill anyone who did not profess faith in their God. The leaders of these religions were so ignorant that they weren’t aware that if there was a Satan, it existed only in their minds! Only ignorance, fear and greed can spur someone to hunt and burn another spiritual being.

In spite of these terrible tragedies, older ways of life were magickally preserved and even thrived in many countries. The ancient African traditions, the followers of the 5000 year old Hindu religion in India that still espouses non-violent methods of negotiation instead of confrontation, the Native Americans, and many other cultures still thrive on non Judeo-Christian principles. The Wicca, like many of these other cultures is growing in large numbers, especially in the United States which was created to enable freedom of religious thought.

Wiccans can be traced back to their roots in ancient Europe. They celebrate our innate connection to the spirit world so that they can find the power that is latent in us. Followers of the Wicca religion form groups called “Covens” which meet at certain times of the year. Wiccans traditionally celebrate the seasons, phases of the Moon, planets, Sunrise and Sunset along with respecting all things in nature as sacred to their hearts.

One God One People One Church

One of the most beautiful stories on the Bible is written in the gospel of John where Jesus meets a Samaritan lady by the town well. Due to the belief that women should be seen and not heard as dictated by the leaders of that time it is highly instrumental that Jesus chose a Samaritan lady as a conduit to relay the word of God to other nations. Basically every child of God who desires to pay homage to him in any part of the world should be able to do so without fear of disastrous consequences

Setting the Record Straight: The Miracle of Islamic Science

The concept that the sciences are exclusively the products of Western minds remains unquestioned by most individuals. A review of any of the standard texts or encyclopaedias regarding the history of science would support this view. As these books are perused, it becomes evident that the only contributors given significant mention are Europeans and/or Americans. It is hardly necessary to repeat the oft-mentioned names: Galileo, Copernicus, Kepler, Bacon, Newton, Da Vinci, Benjamin Franklin, etc.
