Teacher, Does Stress Morph You into a Monster?

Edit Article |

Posted: Sep 02, 2010 |

We need to spring back to a stable identity, with a stable inner referent that makes us feel comfortable and safe. For example, a schoolteacher, over the summer, might have a chance to spend a lot of time alone, just reading, walking through the woods, enjoying their own company, perhaps even painting a picture. By simply enjoying them self, they feel more genuine and comfortable inside and out. However, then they need to return to teaching school in the fall. Over a course of the following school year, by the time the next May or June comes along, they can hardly recognize them self anymore (again). The real work that they did on themself in the summer, returning to their internal referent to heal is gone. They feel as if they have their feet to the fire for nine months of the school year. Again, they can hardly wait to have time by themself and to get to know them self again. watch this about teacher stress http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/educational_and_howto/watch/v17489191ySYcHbHw

However, each time they get to know them self again, they are not them self anymore. They have not gone back to their comfortable baseline reality often enough.  Becoming changed by stress causes teachers to “morph” into another way of being alive to withstand the rigorous demands of today’s modern society. The burn out ratein education is so high that anything we can to prevent it will benefit many.

What is true for a schoolteacher is also true for a healer or anyone in the helping professions. However, anyone who is a meditator should work toward developing a steady, sincere relationship with higher being that needs to be returned to daily. Better yet, twice a day. A meditator who is in retreat will do that six times a day. Enlightened beings never leave the internal referent.

Reading And Mathematics Items

We then draw on the work of Hansen, Mislevy, and their colleagues (Hansen and Steinberg, 2004; Hansen et al., 2003; Mislevy et al., 2002, 2003) to provide a very basic introduction to the development of an inference-based validation argument.

Research on Accommodations for Students with Disabilities and English

We begin with an analysis of the target and ancillary skills required to respond to NAEP reading and mathematics items. We then discuss procedures for articulating the validation argument using an approach referred to as evidence centered design investigated by Mislevy and his colleagues (Hansen and Steinberg, 2004; Hansen et al., 2003; Mislevy et al., 2002, 2003).

Focuses on the Validation of Inferences

Research should be conducted that focuses on the validation of inferences based on accommodated assessments of students with disabilities and English language learners. Further research should be guided by a conceptual argument about the way accommodations are intended to function and the inferences the test results are intended to support.

How, then, can it be determined whether scores earned through accommodated and standard administrations are equivalent in meaning? Simply comparing score distributions for students who took the test under accommodated and standard conditions is clearly insufficient, since these two groups are drawn from different student populations.

The Power That Karma Holds Over Us!

You know, our egos have their own way of interpreting events. We are already suffering because inappropriate ego prevents us from perceiving the way things exist in reality. In addition, perhaps we do not respect ourselves enough to challenge this ego-based method of dealing with external and internal phenomena.

The Muse of the Arts and the Great Dakini of Tantric Buddhism

The powerful, creative energy of the muse of poetry, painting, and other arts is thought by others to be a mythical personification of the spirit of creativity in beautiful and seductive female form, but not to the experiencer. Many artists entice and worship the muse who holds the key to their success. There definitely are signs that this is equal to the female creative energy of higher tantric practices called dakini.
