Question by Peqo: first time mystic tanning?
do you need to purchase tanning lotion to get a mystic tan (to help you when you’re mystic tanning)?
do you have to pay for the lotion they give you to put on your fingernails and hands and feet?
do you put this lotion all over your body or just your hands and feet?
it’s my first time mystic tanning…please give me some pointers. how long does it last etc…I have medium skin tone..is there a specific color I have to ask for…are there levels of darkness?
do you stand there with a bikini or naked or what?
thank you!

No you just pay for the stuff that is making you tan, usually like .
No you don’t pay for the lotion you put on your hands and feet and you do not put it all over your body.
It lasts about a week, depending how much you shower.
There are usually 3 different levels you can get, I would ask the employee which one would suit you best.
You stand their naked, its not like anyone sees. If you wore a bathing suit it would get covered in tan lol.

there are 3 levels. usually they will pick for you (they know lol) or they might ask you. And if they do, ask them what they think. (I did and it turned out ok) You don’t need any tanning lotion or anything and you don’t pay for the lotion they give you.

When I went, what you do is u get in whatever you wanna wear in there, or wear nothing, then put this hair net on and you put lotion on your feet and fingernails and i think fingers. then get in the booth, press a button and stand a certain way and it sprays you. Then it will beep or just stop and u turn around, it sprays you then when it stops… Get out, towel dry it off, but kinda like rub it in also… Its easy. and cheap

But when I went I got level 2 of tanning and holy crap I turned orange! But Then another time I went I did level 1 and I was fine. So just make sure you get the right color. (I’m super white by the way, so i think you’ll be ok)

Question by JENNIFER: Has anyone tried the combination of a tanning bed and a mystic tan? Lock in color + the “Bronze” glow?
If so, what’s the best place to get a Mystic Tan?

Best answer:

Answer by J Stang
Yes, it works great! Once you’re reached your plateau as far as using the tanning bed, the Mystic Tan is a great way to darken up a little more. I don’t know where the best place is to get a Mystic Tan though; they’re pretty much all the same at all the salons…same spray stuff, booth, etc. My tanning salon just got the Mystic Tan booth this year, and it’s awesome. It only takes a couple minutes in the booth. There is also barrier cream in the Mystic Tan room…you want to apply it to places that you don’t want tan, such as your fingernails/toenails, etc.

Question by ~Logan’s mama~ #2due~ Nov~09: Is it safe to use self tanning lotion while pregnant?
I like the Equate, Healthy Glow.I was also wondering about the mystic tan. I am in a wedding in April and the dress already looks yucky on me (its pretty hideous) and I would like to at least look a little bronzed. and not pastey. I am 5 weeks.
Thanks.

Ok, soooo, I did a little research and everything I can find says that it’s fine to use during pregnancy. Talk to your OB/GYN, because he/she might have a different opinion.
Good luck :)

Best thing you can do is stand-up tanning. No lines! They have one called the saturn which is so much better for you than regular ones. Also it tans more layers of skin instead of one and you are less likely to burn in it!

Hey really?! You can get cancer from tanning? No shit. I dont think he wanted a lecture. WE KNOW. It is his choice. Lots of things can give you cancer.

Question by Jenna: Ways to get a tan without a tanning bed?
I don’t want to use tanning beds anymore, but I want to have a tan.
I’ve tried the drug store types of tanning moisturizers and found they don’t really do anything and they only last a day.
I’m looking into getting a spray tan.
Whats a good one?
I have Mystic Spray tanning booths here in town that I wanted to try.

There’s always the sun, lol.

I just used the autobronzer about a week ago. It’s similar to Mystic but it talks to you (weird!) and it actually dries you off with a fan so you don’t have to towel off or wait to leave or anything. You are a little tacky for a few hours but otherwise dry. It didn’t get me as dark as I wanted, but I know some places have different levels of darkness that you can choose from. If you only have Mystic in your town, it’s a decent option. In my experience Mystic lasts about 3-5 days, the Autobronzer lasted longer like a full 7 days (might have been the product the salon used though and not the machine?)

Also, in my experience with drugstore tanning moisturizers, you need several applications before you start seeing results, and you need to make it a regular practice (i.e. apply every 2-3 days forever). They’re not intended to be single-use for a single event, they should be part of your normal skincare routine.

Sorry that answer was a little flighty, hope it helps :)

EDIT: for what it’s worth, my favorite drugstore tanner is Dove summer glow. Also, make sure you exfoliate before any self-tan or spray tan – it makes it last longer.

Question by Brody’s Mama: What is the best tanning lotion? And what do you think of spray tans?
First off I’m SUPER pale. I have olive skin so I don’t burn and I take a tan okay, but I’m still extremely white and need to get some color for a wedding I’m in in a 8 weeks.

What lotion, preferably one with a bronzer, do you recommend?

Also have you ever done one of those mystic tans? How did it turn out? Would you recommend it to someone who is so pale.

the way you’ve described your skin it sounds exactly like mine!
i did my own fake tan spray – Letan Jet dry in Bronze.
its very easy to apply and doesn’t turn you orange at all.

Before i started using that i used a gradual tanning moisturizer –
both nivea and palmers and great brands although some people dont like the smell of palmers.

I use l’oreal sublime. I hear people complaining about it a lot but it’s rather simple
to use, just don’t use too much. It’s a gradual tanner, so you can use it everyday.

Question by BigRed: I have very pale skin and I always burn, is it possible for me to tan in a tanning bed?
I have tried sunless tans, mystic tan, spray tan, lotions etc….I don’t want to tan on a regular basis just for maybe a month or so, for a wedding at the end of June. Thanks!

I am sure you can, ask the experts at the tanning place. With your skin this may actually be safer than the sun.
