Question by Everything Nice: How to come with up story ideas?
I would like to hear some tips on how to come up with good story ideas.

Best answer:

Answer by Ilya
Read some stories for inspiration.
Philip Pullman said he stole everything from other writers.
I paint and then write what I paint.
Also you could just write and see what comes to you, I do that as well.
Hope this helps.

Question by Bluey: Name of short story about an unconventional teacher?
She appears as a substitute one day. Teaches kids weird things such as 2+2 isn’t necessarily 4, the pyramids have mystic powers, and that women can enchant men but not the other way around. And one day she is gone because she is fired. The protagonist is a student that is intrigued with her and wonders where she went. The other students were like “she’s nuts.”

I thought the name of the story was “The Griffin” or something, but I couldn’t find it under that.

Best answer:

Answer by charming
“Gryphon” by Charles Baxter. The substitute teacher is Miss Ferenczi.

Question by AGLDBT: What is a good book on the formation of the Jesus Story?
Specifically outlining the parallels between the story of Jesus Christ and earlier Gods, such as Horus and Attis of Greece, and the stories of the Pagan tradition. I’m looking for book that outlines the motivations of the Early Roman Church to take stories from other cultures and combine them with the Jesus story in order to form a more appealing religion.

Best answer:

Answer by believer_in_jesus37421
There are no parallels between Jesus and Horus. E-mail me for my e-mail showing that. Address is below.

You can be absolutely certain that Jesus wasn’t a myth or the product of someone’s imagination, but a real person. In fact, the details of His life and ministry are documented more thoroughly than those of any other person in the ancient world.

After all, shortly after His death and resurrection thousands of people in Jerusalem — the city where He had been put on trial and executed by the Roman authorities — became His followers. Would they have done so if no one had seen Him or heard Him, or even witnessed His death only a few weeks before? No, of course not. As Peter declared to the crowds there, “Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs … as you yourselves know” (Acts 2:22).

Never forget, too, that from that point on Jesus’ followers were willing to risk prison and even death because of their faith. Do men and women willingly die for something they know is a lie? No, they don’t. They had heard Jesus teach and seen His miracles, and many of them had been witnesses of His resurrection.

But why have you asked this question? Is it because you’re hoping to avoid Jesus and His claim on your life? Don’t turn your back on Him, but face your need for God’s forgiveness, and then repent of your sins and give your life to Christ. He alone could say, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Question by Marta: What do you think of my fantasy story for book?
My grammar will be bad couse I don’t speak English. So the story revolves around a young boy (I still didn’t give a name) who is like 11/12 years old. His father is an archaeologist who collect’s ancient and valuable items from Egypt and also one of those who wants to steal Pharaoh treasure. As we all know who goes to find that treasure never comes back and no one knows is he dead or alive a that what happened to his dad he gonne to find a treasure and he didn’t god back. His son noticed the second day that he’s father didn’t get back from the trip so he though that his dad maybe left him a message or somethin where it says when he will come back so the kid started looking for a message,as he was looking he found something that he never so or expected to see. It looked like a puzzle made of gold it looked incredible and magnificant and to him it was really interesting so he started to make the puzzle. Once he finished a really powerful light grow out of it, it was a color of gold it was so bright, big and powerful that he couldn’t even se the room where he was standing (his home) and the light stoped. After this boy found him self in some place that it wasn’t his home,it was a city full of interesting people running to the street the thing he noticed first was that the puzzle changed it shape and now it was triangular with a mysterious blue eye on it it had a shape of pyramid and it looked like amulet. While he was walking though the street he met really big and interesting man named Alzat who noticed the amulet that the boy was holding he was afraid to touch it later Alzat told him a story that a long time ago some fortune-teller predicted that some young boy will solve a puzzle and by that he will wake a ancient curse and wake a really powerful god who wants an ancient Egyptian fame and by that he needs to kill the boy who solved the puzzle because he is special and the only one who can stop the curse and kill the god and olse the only one who can own that puzzle or amulet if anyone touch is it he will die, a lot people believed that fortune teller and they still do but only Alzat don’t believe it but he started to think that maybe this boy is special because he was holding the amulet. So boy and Alzat started to know each other boy toled him about his dad that maybe hi is in some of the Egypt pyramids looking for a treasure and that he want’s to find his dad so Alzat led the boy to his library where he had old books about Egypt myths and all that and he was studied it for years so that’s where boy meets Alzat’s doughter Amelia who had blonde and curly hair and she was really charming but as a story goes they learn that they don’t get along, boy meets another kid he was also a boy (don’t have a name still) who loved to take books from Alzat’s library because he was fascinated about myths. His personality is shy, good friend, book smart, sometimes coiled (if thats a right word) and a little bit unsecure so the thing is he has a huge crush on Amelia for years but he was to shy to tell her (Im not making it gay romance like Twilight just something cute like Ron and Hermione). So Amelia and a boy are helping a main character to find his father so on that adventure they face a lot of things like strange creatures like half man half lion you know Sfinga and half man half scorpion something like that those are just ideas and a lot of other creatures, they find a lot of powerful amulets ancient things, book of dead, book of gold, book of gates they face a lot of gods like Anubis the god of the underworld and god Raa and other God’s,there’s also a lot of puzzles that they have to solve they go though labyrinth’s,secret tunnels and undiscovered places,a lot of games, and cople of mummies just to stop them on the way, they learn a lot of mysteries. And as a story goes the main character learns that it wasnt about a treasure that his father wanted to still at all and that theres more behind that story and also finds out a lot about his mother that he never met father never told him what happened to her and that is like some twist in the end of the story. And yes important thing to say that the main characters is totally diffrent form all those gay ”chosen one” are he is not acting like a hero at al actually he is totally irresponsible, sometimes rude, frivolous, childish but a good and loyal friend who is always there for Amelia and the other guy but ya know just acting like a normal kid who is enyjoing in adventure he is living but he never forgets why is he there and what he is looking for so theres a lot details in this story but it’s already long inafe so im not gonna write it. And do you like it and what would you change?

Best answer:

Answer by ZombieChika
I like it, and it’s really interesting, but I don’t know what’d I’d change. Its your story and I say you should just write what needs to be written. If it was a published book, I’d definitely read it. Good luck!

Question by Akaisha Lynn: Im writing a story and i want to know what everyone thinks?
Im writing a story called “The Life Of A Girl”. Its about a 13 year old girl going into the 9th grade, but shes not a normal teenage girl. Shes half demon. *for all you who watch anime*. She falls in love w/ a guy names Matt. The girls name is Akaisha. It’s romance, mystery, and i guess you could call it suspense all rolled into one. Tell me what you think whether be good or bad and i want to know how to make it better. so here goes:

The Life Of A Girl
Chapter 1
How my life began

Hi my name is Akaisha Williams and I am a thirteen year old girl going into the 9th grade. Yea, I know most kids don’t go to High School until their 14, but I am not a normal teenage girl. In fact I’m not even a normal human being. Let’s go back in time just a little bit. My mom was a normal teenager who just got out of college. She was looking for love and she found my dad, who was what my mom thought was a normal guy who also just got out of college. They were both studying Law at A&M and UT. When Jezzabelle (my mom) found out that Nethaniel (my dad) was half demon she freaked a little bit, but before she had anytime to take all this in she found out she was pregnant with me Akaisha Lynn Williams. I am half demon. Which is kind of cool at times, but a lot of the time I wish I could be just a normal teenage girl. My mom died while giving birth to me so my dad has been raising me to become a demon slayer. Even though he’s a demon, he’s good. His father was one of the most evil and deadly demons on earth. But when his dad got married that all changed, he wanted to be good to his wife and his family so he had 2 choices either give up his life so that his kids who will be full demon are good or stay alive, stay evil and have his kids become like he did. To save the pain and misery from his kids the night he found out his wife was pregnant with their second child he decided to give up his life for his kids. That’s how my father now Nethaniel is a good demon. He’s also one of the most powerful ones out there. Since I’m just now learning how to use my powers I have a hard time controlling them. Oh yea, back to the reason why I’m in 9th grade instead of 8th. Well my Dad, principal, and my teachers thought the curriculum was too easy to they put me in pre-AP classes, which were still too easy. I’m still in 7th grade and I’m now in all AP classes, which turned out to be perfect. So instead of making me go through a whole bunch of classes everyone already knew were to easy, they let me skip a grade and I’m now in high school. Which to tell you the truth is a whole lot more fun than middle. The reason I’m so smart is because my mother was one of the smartest women in the world and apparently I received her smart genes and my father’s demon genes.

Chapter 2
I met this really hot guy named Matt. He’s not only the most popular guy in school; he’s the only one who ever talks to me. I’m not really in a certain group, but I guess people would put me in the Emo/Goth group. I wear a lot of red and black. Matt asked me out to lunch one day and I was really excited, but he’s a sophomore and I’m a freshmen. That didn’t happen too often, so I didn’t know what I had just gotten myself into. After lunch he walks me home and asks to meet my dad. I hesitate for a second then I think ‘What’s the worst that can happen’ not really thinking of the worst that could happen. So he comes inside and sits on the couch, while I go get him a glass of water. Then I hear my dad’s truck pull up, so I rush back into the living room where I see Matt and my Dad talking calmly. This was very unusual for my dad after meeting one of my future boyfriends. Then my dad pulls me into the kitchen and asks if he’s my boyfriend I say “No Dad, he’s just a friend who took me to lunch and he wanted to come meet you”. So he agrees to sit and chat with him for a few minutes. After that I walk him to his car and when he saw that my dad wasn’t looking out the window anymore he leaned in and kissed me. I was so surprised I never thought that a sophomore would kiss me; I never thought anyone would kiss me.
When I got back inside my dad asked me how much I liked him and I said a lot but I also said that there’s no chance in the world that he could like me. After me and my dad talked about Matt for a few minutes, I realized I was late for work. I worked at a little restaurant for teens. On my way home I run into Matt and Mark (Matt’s twin brother) and I ask if they’d like to come and stay for dinner they agree. When we get home I noticed that my dad wasn’t home, he would usually leave a note telling me where he went and when I didn’t find one I started to freak out a little. So I go to the kitchen and try to call his cell phone but he doesn’t pick up so I leave a message “Hey dad, umm…you didn’t leave a note so I’m wondering where you are, I’m also a little worried about you. So call me ASAP when you get this. Thanks love ya.” Matt asks me what’s wrong I say “My dad’s not home and he didn’t leave a note.” The reason this isn’t good is because ever since his dad died and he became good there’s been a whole bunch of evil demons after his power who think that no good demon should have such power.
While Akaisha was making dinner she could over hear Matt and Mark talking and didn’t know what they were talking about until Mark said “Her father has no right to live. He has way to much power.” Then Matt says “Leave the guy alone. He’s done nothing to you. Leave him and his daughter alone.” That’s when she comes out of the kitchen and says “What were you planning to do to me Mark. The same thing your father did to my mother.” When Akaisha was born everything was going great until this man named Octavious volunteered to get my mom a glass of water, and when she took a sip of it she died instantly. Nobody knew she was poisoned until he came and confessed, and nobody knows why he did it either. Octavious was a normal guy who always wished to be demon. His mother was full demon, but his father was a mortal. His brother inherited all the demon genes while he’s stuck being a stupid mortal. Mark had no idea that Akaisha knew what his father had done, but she had a clear idea. “Why should your father have to suffer but you get to live?” He retorted “How do you know where my father is? What have you done to him? Where is he?!?” Matt breaks in “EVERYONE SHUT UP AND CALM DOWN!” “Mark has no idea where your dad is. He’s just mad because, well I don’t know why he’s mad.”
Once everyone was calm and as collected as they were going to get they all sat down for dinner. During dinner Akaisha got a threatening phone call about her father. The voice on the other end seemed vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. Then the voice handed the phone over to a woman who asked “Is this Akaisha Williams? If so we have your father.” And then she hung up. Akaisha didn’t even know her father had any female “friends”. She tells this to the guys and they try to track the call on the computer but she called from a payphone. And there were thousands of payphones on the city, so there was a 10 out of 100% chance that they were going to find the phone that the girl used. They decided to sleep on it and figure out what to do in the morning. The guys spent the night at Akaisha’s because Matt didn’t want anything to happen to her. Akaisha felt so loved.

I think this would be better off in the Lit. categorey, but from what I read it was very bad. Very predictable and very cheesy. I think the whole demon thing was weirdly introduced and it needs alot of punctuation help in the conversations.

Question by BrookEllis: Does this sound like an appealing story to read? 10 points(:?
I have started to write a story and want to know whether you would read onwards, any tips are appreciated. I am 13 and female by the way.

About – ‘Murderous Muse’ – 2 children explore a house, go missing and get lost. Time outside the house freezes, no-one can help, no-one knows they’re missing. And if they ever escape, will time ever be unfrozen?

The house dwarfed everything else in the street. It stood of a strong build, with eager enthusiasm to scare, to haunt, to turn night into day. Secrets were writhed into the walls of the house, as night bewildered it’s presence. To itself, the house was muse. Wooden boards enclosed the windows which ceased to be a rotten string of ivy, hanging to the cracks in the walls. Withered oak branches smouldered the remains of what used to be a door. Other houses which lingered on that very street, simplicity worked at it’s best. Tall houses; painted the blue only newborn baby’s eyes can describe; gardens with rose bushes and plum trees planted. But apart from the ego of a house so demonic, something didn’t seem correct; but no-one knew what…

Brianna Perez was a small 12 year old of exactly five feet, who had beautiful, stick straight, flouncy brown hair down to her shoulders and tanned skin; the colour of sand. She walked with great posture and confidence beamed down on her. Her features denied such shyness she employed within, but Brianna believed she was beautiful and no-one could tell her otherwise. She did, however, have a twin brother. His name was Josh Perez, and he had all the same features as Brianna apart from his tufty blonde hair. The great American sunshine shone in the city of Tennessee, leaving a temperature of 38c emerging throughout the city for all to inhale.
A forest stood swaying in the slight breeze on the corner of Ewington Close, the road on which Brianna and Josh lived. It held a slight sense of murkiness and an eerie presence gathered at it’s sight. Daunted by the forest, many people of Tennessee turned around and ran with tears streaming from their face. No-one knew why, but this forest, was like an onion. Once you can see the inside, you start to cry. There is many a legend, that inside the forest lives fantasies of all kinds. Forest fluttering, shadowy ghost-like black horses than gallop through the mistified sky on a cold winter’s night; flowers that grow and strangle any living object that gets in it’s way; a moon with a face that smiles and cackles with an evil laughter. Ever since an incident a few years ago, no-one has dared enter the forest, leaving it nicknamed ‘No Man’s Forest.’ The incident was tragic and formed a scarceness of demonic myths to surround it. A 9 year old girl named Becky Plumber was playing truth or dare with her friend’s. She got dared to run in the forest, and run straight back out. So Becky, being the adventurous and outrageous child she was, ran in. But she never ran back out. A scream was heard then the howl of a wolf which freaked her gaggle of friend’s who ran shrieking, “He’s out to get us!” Her life and absentness remains a mystery, leaving her lost in a world of imagination.
Brianna was especially scared of the forest, as one day last October she saw something; a shadow of a human. In hear ears rang the words “Come with me, into the land of mystery…” and she heard it in a deep tone of a masculine voice. It was in no doubt coming from the shadow, it had to be a human. Perhaps it was Becky? But no, she didn’t wait around to find out, instead Brianna sprinted like a bolt of lightning travelling across an unlit circuit of flames with her face; pale and peak.

Question by : A question for both CHRISTIANS and ATHEISTS: Astro-theology and the Jesus story.?
What do you think? Even preceding Christianity, ancient mystery religions (including early Christianity) were based on astrology and the pagan religion of sun worship. Christianity being no different by which this ancient religion that keeps getting told over and over again is weaved throughout the Christian Bible.

Please note that this is not proof of whether or not their is a supreme being. It’s only to show the story of the Bible. I’m going to use someone else’s supportive material because it’s explained better than I could. To read the whole paper, see

Zodiac is one of the oldest conceptual images in human history. It reflects the sun as it figuratively passes through the 12 major constellations over the course of a year. It also reflects the 12 months of the year, the 4 seasons, and the solstices and equinoxes. The term Zodiac relates to the fact that constellations were anthropomorphized, or personified, as figures, or animals.

Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary on December 25th/a> in Bethlehem, his birth was symbolized by a star in the east which three kings or magi followed to locate and adorn the new savior. He was a child teacher at age 12 and at the age of 30 he was baptized by John the Baptist, and thus began the ministry. Jesus had 12 disciples whom he traveled about with performing miracles such as healing the sick, raising the dead, walking on water, he was also known as the King of Kings, the Son of God, the Light of the World, the Alpha and Omega, the Lamb of God e.g. After being betrayed by Judas his disciple and sold for 30 pieces of silver, he was crucified, placed in a tomb and after 3 days resurrected and ascended to Heaven.

The birth sequence of Jesus is completely astrological. The star in the east is Sirius, the brightest star in the sky at night, which on December 24th aligns with the three brightest stars in Orion’s Belt. These three bright stars are referred today what they were called in ancient times, The Three Kings. The Three Kings and the brightest star Sirius, all point to the place of the sunrise on December 25th. This is why the Three Kings follow the star in the east, in order to locate the sunrise or the birth of the sun.

Virgin Mary is the constellation Virgo, also known as the Virgo the Virgin which in Latin means virgin. The ancient glyph for Virgo is the altered “m”. This is why Mary with other virgin mothers, such as Adonis’s mother Myrrha and Buddha’s mother Maya begin with an M. Virgo is also referred to as the House of Bread, and the represents of virgin holding a sheaf of wheat. The House of Bread and its symbol of wheat represent August and September, the time of harvest. In turn, Bethlehem literally translates to “house of bread”. Bethlehem therefore refers to the constellation Virgo, a place in the sky, not on Earth.

Another very interesting phenomenon that occurs around December 25th is that from the summer solstice to the winter solstice, the days become shorter and colder. From the northern hemisphere perspective, the sun appears to move south gets smaller and more scarce. The shortening of days and the expiration of the crops when approaching the winter solstice symbolizes the process of death to the ancients. By December 22nd, the Sun’s demise was fully realized, for the Sun having moved south continually for 6 months, makes it to its lowest point in the sky. And here a curious thing occurs, the Sun stops moving south, at least for 3 days. In the three day pause, the Sun stays in the vicinity of the Southern Cross, or Crux, the constellation. After this time on December 25th, the Sun moves 1 degree, this time north, foreshadowing longer days, spring and warmth. And thus it was said, the Sun died on the cross, was dead for 3 days, only to be resurrected or born again. This is why Jesus and numerous other Sun Gods share the crucifixion, 3 day death, and resurrection concept. It’s the Sun’s transition period before it shifts its direction back towards the Northern Hemisphere bringing spring and thus salvation.

However, they didn’t celebrate the resurrection of the Sun until the spring equinox, or Easter. This is because at the spring equinox, the Sun officially overpowers the evil darkness, as daytime thereafter becomes longer in duration than night, and the revitalizing conditions of spring emerge.

Therefore the obvious astrological symbolism around Jesus regards the 12 disciples. They are simply the 12 constellations of the Zodiac, which Jesus, being the Sun, travels about with.
