Well, when you hit the ball, you are applying a force to it which causes the ball to accelerate (F=ma)

Question by ash: What is a song that would relate to the book The Awakening?
I need a song that relates to Kate Chopin’s The Awakening. Maybe a feminist song or something?

I know a song by the band Mae called “Awakening” or something similar. It’s pretty relative, in my opinion, and it even has a reference to flight which relates to the book because of the constant use of birds as a symbol throughout the book.

If you want to go for a more feminist approach, you might could find something by bands like Le Tigre or Sleater-Kinney. They’re pretty well known for being hardcore feminists although I’m not sure if they have anything that relates to The Awakening.

Please don’t just tell me that Consciousness corresponds with the brain. We know that. I want you to give me a non-shallow answer as to what you think consciousness is and how it relates to physical reality (including the brain).

this question sems a little curious
but reality is so totally subjective
so don’t think that you can use several people’s views to apply to all “non-Religious science-oriented people”
your reality is specific to only you
we redefine what reality is to us on a daily basis
sort of like a scientist formulating his theory
when a situation arises that puts our reality in a different light we adjust it

not only that but how do you know your dreams aren’t reality
how do you know that what you call consciousness isn’t a dream

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Shirley B: How do rainbows relate to earth science and physics?
Can someone explain how rainbows relate to earth science and physics? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by quαяκy lαѕѕ
Rainbows require water droplets in the air to be visible, so I guess that’s how it’s related to earth science. The atmosphere needs to have moisture in order for the light to reflect. Rainbows are related to physics because it has to do with optics. As the light from the sun hits the droplets in the air, the white light gets split into its separate colours since the light wave is going from air to water. The light then reflects off the back of the droplet and down towards the viewer on the ground, where we see different colours of light depending on our perspective to the light. It kind of works like a lens.

I take that you mean to know what’s the physics behind the physical-optical phenomenon. Basically, when there are water droplets in the air and sunlight hits them, each droplet acts like a prism, “separating” the light into its color components. The overall effect is the colored arc we see. I type “separating” because the distinct bands of color saw in a rainbow are actually an effect of the human vision: the light is scattered into a continuous spectrum, but the human brain understands it as the colors seen. A detailed reading is the Wikipedia entry on rainbows (reference).

Very good question. This however is not a good section to find people who know what they’re talking about when it comes to neurology. Oh never mind, I thought I was still over in R&S.
