Question by Abet P: Is there a lady in NYC writing Best Mystery Science Fiction Genre Busting Psychological Books?
Is there a lady in NYC writing Best Mystery Science Fiction Genre Busting Psychological Books? From what I can see she is writing several Science Fiction novels, the first entitled THE SPELL OF VAUGIRARD which tells of “MEND” (Musical Encode Decode) and is a real time invention created and fought over by the characters in the fictional narrative form. The narrative is a series of five books that begins with THE SKELETON SCORE. Book one, clues us in to the historical road map of the ancient Barrington dynasty and their centuries old migration into modern times. That’s all I know, Does anyone else know of her or her books?

Best answer:

Answer by June L
Yes, it’s this lady Mardi Ellen Hill, whose fictional story, a series of books, entitled THE SPELL OF VAUGIRARD chronicles the exploits of a well-known dynasty as it progresses across centuries and continents, brings us to our 21st century era, when themes of power and greed collide with the virtual world. The privilege of insular power the family once enjoyed is dismantled from inside and outside the familial realm. Dynasty secrets that have been dormant for centuries suddenly erupt on a global playing field. Lily Barrington, protagonist and wife of the family inventor stumbles upon the source of the dynasty’s power and ancestry. Neat work.

All that you described is what happens in the story, but you never really say what the story is about.

Also…what’s the point of the castle? Does that play a major roll in the story? Is the MC some kind of princess and that makes a difference in the story? You want to state that if it’s true.

Example of how to explain what your story is about:

Sent back through time by a magical diary, an orphaned princess must rescue the diary’s owner in order to return home.

>>See? Simple. You know:

who the mc is.
what she is…an orphan and a princess…so the castle idea fits
she finds a magical diary that forces her into an adventure (all stories force the mc into an adventure)
she must do something to save herself (come home).

As is…your definition is too wordy and doesn’t really say what your story is about.

This remarkable work by Ronald D. LeBlanc is the first study to appraise the representation of food and sexuality in the nineteenth-century Russian novel.
