I want to study witchcraft because I find magic very interesting, how can I get started? Also, how can I find a place near me that teaches it? Recommend books if possible.

Before you can start, you must believe in fairy dust, unicorns, and George W Bush having some intelligence.

you can find others or places you might find interesting at http://www.witchvox.com

Go to a pagan supply shop and talk to the owner. They’ll help you find a local group. Generally, it’s is no fun when practiced alone.
Chekout the website http://www.witchvox.com
It has an extensive list of literature, as well as a pretty good listing of various pagan groups and individuals who might be in your area.
try this site, it will get you started et least, witchvox is educational also….http://www.teenwitch.com/
Malachi Chapter 3:5 Sorcers?
I would reccomend Wicca: a guide for the solitary practitioner. It’s a great book to teach you about being Wiccan without making you feel like you have to join a coven. But you don’t hav to be Wiccan in order to be a witch. Witchvox.com is a great sight with listings of many books, stores, people, events, etc. all to do with witchcraft and Paganism. You can search for events and gatherings in your area(it’s like myspace for pagans). There is also paganforum.com and many other pagan and possibly even witchcraft based forums where you could go to sign up and ask your questions. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey.
Witchcraft is wonderful…but magic isn’t magick. Magick is not what you see in Harry Potter movies. It’s special and more powerful than anything else because it draws its power from you. There are many ways to learn about it and man, tons of books! But you should just start out researching it first to grasp a good concept of what it teaches and to see if it’s for you. There are different branches or sect.s of witchcraft so research them all! Hope you find your path be it with Witchcraft or any other my friend!
Oh yeah! Witchvox.com has alot of different information for you to search…from stores, to different covens, to basically anything related!
Well it depends on where you live but you should start off by going to your local library or bookstore or just order online general books about Witchcraft and the Wiccan religion. Also at bookstores you can purchase magazines that are specifically about witchcraft in which you’ll find resources for witches to be. Finally online you can find forums and groups dedicated to Wicca and witchcraft where you can join and meet witches from across the nation.
Although you don’t have to be pagan in order to practice witchcraft, a lot of material for witchcraft is pagan. Therefore, I recommend the Pagan Primer. It will point you in a useful direction.
read everything you can get your hands on. also, examine yourself and figure out why you find magick and witchcraft so alluring. examining your motives and beliefs will help to guide you on your path.
you don’t mention any specific areas of interest or beliefs so i’ll give you some links to a few things you my find interesting.

I recommend you visit the sites in my Sources. An excellent book I think you would benefit from is “Simple Wicca” by Michele Morgan. Great for everyone–for those just becoming interested, and those who have been in the Craft for 40 years.
These are good too:
“Embracing the Moon” by Yasmine Galenorn
“Dancing with the Sun” by Yasmine Galenorn
Remember what Witchcraft actually is, and that it’s spiritual–and not a joke. You sound like you have good intentions, though, so I won’t go into that. Good luck with your studies, and Blessed Be your path!
“Witchcraft” simply means “sorcery”. Many people these days think of Wicca when they read the word witchcraft.

I’m an ex-wiccan.
People have already recommended the Witchvox site which is a good place to start, but I have to warn you that if you are a minor (IF, I’m not assuming you are one) very few teachers will teach you. To start try to find as much information as possible. Read, study, and practice. As much as you can, not just on Wicca. Wicca is a religion whose adherents happen to practice witchcraft….witchcraft is the practice of magic, and there are literally millions of different types out there. So to give you a list of books would be, well, daunting. It really depends on what type of witchcraft you are interested in. If Wicca is your speed, then good. I recommend http://wicca.timerift.net for that and the books they recommend. PLEASE stay away from Silver Ravenwolf, DJ Conway, and Fiona Horne, or most anything published by Llewllyn.
A few others have suggested Witchvox, which is always excellent – also http://www.witchgrove.org – above all, read read read – books won’t give you ALL of the information you’re looking for, have a look at the book before buying though, some will be utter crap but you can usually tell that before you dish out the cash…….trust your instincts, and DO NOT let anyone charge you to teach you anything at all……it’s spirituality, not a way to drain cash out of people! There are plenty of people who judge those relatively new on ANY Path, but keep studying and read as much as you can, get outside in the ELEMENTS (earth, air, fire, water, SPIRIT!!!) – you will EARN respect in the community as a result – Good luck!
Blessed Be
