Not very long for certain people for me like 2 or 3 years if you keep at it and work hard I’m sure everyone can do better! =D
If you want a black belt i hope you get one asap and good luck!!!
Give your answer to this question below!
If you go to a McDojo, probably 2-3 years, (A McDojo is a place that just is there for the money and gives you the belt asap), but if you go to a proper Dojo, probably 5+ years.
But to be honest, Martial Arts shouldn’t be just about getting a certain belt, it doesn’t prove anything. A yellow belt could probably beat up a Black belt with the right training.
I have only used Martial Arts twice before, I’m 15 and in year 11 in school. Both of the times I used it were in school fights.
depends if it is a legit martial art or a “fun martial art”
karates and tae kwon dos an 11 year old girl can get a black belt
BJJ and Judo like martial arts can take 10+ years.
There are some cops that go to my bjj gym that have had to use bjj in real life
2-3 years, yea ive been attacked n i defended myself
a black belt means you have an understanding of the basics and can begin your training.
how long it takes depends upon you unless you go to a mcdojo, there should be no time frame it depends on how you train. some people make it in 5yrs others take as long as 10yrs plus.
alot of people now think that it is normal to have a blackbelt in two to three years. thats rediculous it takes at least five or six years, thats if you dont go to what they call a mcdojo or mcdojang. the man above me explained what it is. and its not the black belt that matters. you can buy that off ebay for five bucks. people call a black belt a goal. i just see it as a checkpoint. ive been doing taekowndo for six years and have a red belt. and the same for jiu jitsu and i have a brown belt.
I don’t think anyone’s black belt is legitimate if they earned it in under 8-9 years of serious training, regardless of style. And yes I have used it. You don’t need to be a black belt for it to be effective. Remember, most of the time, if you get in a fight, you are going against an untrained opponent. A year of training already gives you a leg up. Doesn’t guarantee you’ll win, but it certainly does help.
well said lane
let me just rev up the BS here…”ahem’…well i think a black belt in less than 18 years is a total mcdojo..
WTF? if you take 6 yeras for a black belt then longer for every sucessive Dan-so 7/8 yrs to get to 2nd dan then to become an instructor 4th or 5th dan you will have been 6+7+8+9 years minimum Studying your martial art = 30 OR even 40 years!!!so if you start at 20yrs of age your gonna be 50 or 60 years old and unable to actually execute the more physically demanding ‘moves’-and a HALF ASSED teacher
