Rather like Satie in its artless simplicity, this music works best when you do nothing to it. The “expressive” phrasing (hairpin cresc/dim, Germanic timings, etc) do not work here.

His music is repetitive, but evolving and circular. It reminds me of how we think; thoughts start as a spark and grow, repeat, develop, they are questioned, and go on to support another thought. I guess everyone experiences it; but thats okay 🙂 And unifiedperfection, I listen this to when I’m running and cycling too! (takes the pain out of hill repeats)

Beautiful piece of music. I have to agree with interpol242, it’s tranquility is in it’s simplicity. It doesn’t have to be busy and complicated, it just has to invoke emotion and this piece certainly does.

Beautiful, tranquil. This piece has been used in recent years in religious services. There is actually a fantastic organ version of this which was played By Kiyo Watanabe at First United Methodist in Wichita Falls. I can’t decide which version I prefer though.

the thing with the simplicity of Glass is that he works with old baroque scores, he takes little parts of it, and work with the musical motive, so, that’s why the note repetition, it’s call MInimalism, and he and Michael Nyman are the leaders of this style, as a matter of fact it takes more music knowledges and effort create new pieces inside the old ones, plus the archeological work and the research, he is also author of operas. So, why don’t you read a little before setting an oppinion?

Brilliant, if anyone thinks this is easy an simple to play Try it ! to play it correctly is very difficult. Moving is the only word to descibe the feeling. Unfeeling people will not respond, those with ears will hear.
