Question by asktolearn: Peonies are so pretty, but how do you keep the ants off?
I believe in ancient China, blooming peonies presage good times. We sure need some of those right about now.

The ants actually help the peonies to bloom. They remove a sweet substance from the plants flower bud to allow it to open and in return, protect the plant from ny other insect tat would cause it harm.

They are correct. Ive never tried it but someone once said to plant marigolds around the peonies to help prevent.
The Peony and ants share a mutually beneficial relationship. There is not only no need to remove the ants, they are supposed to be there.
