@xPrinceArthurx because if you are born again it is said that you go straight to hell when you die again. Merlin released that curse that Morgana gave him and he will now probably go to heaven:)
@xPrinceArthurx he said “thank you” because Merlin has returned to him the real essence. He returned his soul to this Lancelot, and Lancelot is not vicious. Marlin wanted to Lancelot died myself …
This is so heartbreaking … but why does he say thank you ???
He dies with a smile… Again. Possibly for the third time, since we don’t actually see him commit suicide, he may well have been smiling then too. And we know he’s tried and failed before, when he attempted to ‘die happy knowing Gwen is safe’ in 2×04. So why does it still make me so saaaad!? =(
(I blame Colin. Colin’s smile is heartbreaking.)

@sendmeanangel11 hmmm good point… i just felt like merlin/lancelot were connected on a “deeper” level (for lack of a better word/analogy…) especially because lancelot knows his secret.
@g2lm4l apparently in the real legend there was no love triangle, that was just an interpretation created during the Renaissance. but who knows… i miss lancelot ;(
@TheAsiangirl97 well there’s many many interpretations to the arthur story, it’s not exactly “history” per se, but agreed – i hope lancelot comes back and it’s happy, not sad any more 🙁
@bellarose521 I doubt it, they wouldn’t bring him back for a second time. But I hope! After all, isn’t Gwen supposed to run away with Lancelot and unintentionally leave Arthur to die of heartache in the real legend? Well, he wouldn’t die this time – not now that he has Merlin! 😀
@bellarose521 Although I love the Merlin/Lancelot friendship I’d hate it if Lancelot came back AGAIN!! That’s just taking it too far. His storyline and the love triangle storyline has been and gone, bringing him back to life for the second time would just be ridiculous and it would make this beautiful scene seem so pointless.
