Wicca is a stepping stone for Paganism.
Only the small minded get stuck in Wicca.
Wicca is as fake as Islam and came about in much the same way.
Stay away from the Internet. There’s a LOT of really bad information on the Internet about Wicca.
Of course, there’s some really bad books out there as well, but your chances of getting garbage of much less if you focus on books, particularly if you’re selective. Books are better overall anyway. Websites are brief by their very nature. To learn about anything in depth, you really need books.

Books, but bear in mind not all books are created equal. I recommend looking at the reviews of books, when possible and trying to evaluate the difference between negative and positive reviews. A lot of the books with serious flaws in them will have negative reviews where people say “this is the problem I had with this book” and the positive reviews will say things like “OMG! THIS IS A GREAT BOOK! This is a great author! How dare you not agree with me!” Be careful of books where the positive reviews all are just ‘this is a great book,’ because if a book is really great, people can enumerate what makes it great. Likewise, some really great books will have some negative reviews from people who can’t find a real thing wrong with the book.

http://wicca.cnbeyer.com/wicca101/index.shtml (formerly wicca.timerift.net) is a good start for basic, basic information, and I usually also recommend http://www.cuew.org/whatiswicca.html HOWEVER, sites on the net are going to be limited in their use, and some of them (although not the ones I’ve recommended) are total crap, which rip off other sites, don’t credit authors, aren’t ever maintained or corrected, etc. Again, you need to try to be discerning.
Good luck. It’s not easy. There are some good shortcuts, but they tend to be different depending on WHY you want to research Wicca.
Edit: And as you can see, we have a Pagan who uses shadow accounts to thumbs down every answer but his, which sucks hard, but what can you do?

If you’re interested in researching Wicca, try using Witchvox (http://www.witchvox.com/) as a starter site. Many people also look to Witch School online (http://www.witchschool.com/) for information and/or resources.
If you are interested in something visual, you can acquire videos like Witchcraft Rebirth of the Old Religion by Raymond Buckland (DVD), Discovering Witchcraft by Janet and Stewart Farrar (DVD), Ancient Mysteries Witches by A&E (DVD) from Amazon online (http://www.amazon.com/).
I also suggest that you reed Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin and The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan, both are very good books and will help with both understanding Wicca as well as applying it to your life.

Books and asking questions and listening to other Wiccans is the best ways to go about it.
When looking at books however please stay away from Silver ravenwolf as that is not what Wicca is.
