The Mystics are a singing group which began in Brooklyn, New York, USA in the late 1950s. The group was known as The Overons, a quintet that, when signed to Laurie Records, consisted of Phil Cracolici (b. 1937, lead), Albee Cracolici (b. 1936, baritone), George Galfo (b. 1939, second tenor), Bob Ferrante (b. 1936, first tenor), and Al Contrera (b. 1940, bass). Under the direction of their manager, Jim Gribble, The Overons became The Mystics when each group member wrote a name they liked on a slip of paper, placed the papers in a hat and Al Contrera’s choice was drawn.

@weege713 … yes weege, many of the remaining singers of this music interchange and sing with each others groups. Most have other regular jobs and fill in for each other when someone in another group can’t make the date. I am friends of over 20 years, and a neighbor of Jimmy Spinelli who now sings with the Duprees, and also sang with Vito Balsamo and the Salutations. It’s very common for them to fill in dates when another group needs them.
@Brooklyn50s Albee !!!!! Albee sings with the Passions, he sang with Jimmy Gallagher and Tony Amato.
They still perform and brothers Phil and Albee are still with the group and sound fantastic live. I’ve seen them a few times around the New York area, if you get the chance it’s a show well worth seeing.
i wasn’t born when this came out but when i first heard it at age 13 i was in love with it….the falsetto “ooh ooh hooo’s” are simply killer.
