We do rely on the Evidence. Satan is as real as the hair on your head. We Christians know most of His tricks. The rest we are protected from. But if we slack off a bit. He can and will try and rattle us.

The Christian version of Satan as a fallen angel, is a construct based on passages in Isaiah 14, which actually refer to the King of Babylon who is struck through with a sword, dies, and is thrown into a common grave. There is no biblical foundation for the christian “satan” in the OT, as to the Jews, Satan was one of the “sons of god” in Genesis 6, and acted as a spy and adversary of men in Job.
The fires of hell was promoted in the middle ages through Dante’s Inferno, and its imagery was promoted in order to scare the “devil” (excuse the pun) out of believers so they would be easier to manipulate and control.
