How Can I Become A Christian Mysticism, How Can I Get To Communicate With The Lord?

The word is “mystic”. You think you want to become a mystic. But mysticism is not what you think it is. It isn’t about getting “messages” from God. It’s about quieting external distractions, including that noisy monologue in your head, then reducing the ego and gradually getting in tune with God. You are not getting access to God, you are learning to experience God in a more intimate way, on his terms, not yours. Don’t even think that you will have any control of the relationship if you ever establish it.
It takes years of meditation, learning to clear the mind of all thought, emptying oneself so that God can fill the space. Many of the great Christian mystics warn us of the “dark night of the soul” in which no trace of God can be detected despite expert self-control. That can take years in itself. Just seeking the goal is egotistical. You have to completely eliminate that and allow God to take the initiative, in his own time. All you can do is cultivate your own passive receptivity.
You might start by reading the lives and works of some of the great Christian mystics (John of the Cross, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Henri Nouwen, Thomas Merton, Kathleen Norris), and get some books or CDs on beginning meditation.
Do check out Gnosticism, it also covers a wide range of ideas, some of them are good, others not so. Also, check out Buddhist meditation. Buddhism is atheist, they do not believe in any god and are totally compatible with any religion. There are many christian buddhists. I like Zen myself.
However, no matter what route you go, do not expect “direct communication”, even the christian mystics never got that.
pray, ask your question, wait and watch for the answer.
God speaks to his people through, prayer, bible, other believers, circumstance. Circumstance includes dreams, visions, events. there are no coincidences.
So that you don’t run off into left field with this i have to remind you that in order to consider something the will of God, it can not contradict the written word. So whatever impressions you get check them with the word and i would also suggest running them by fellow Christians.
study Gnosticism. Fundies will tell you that there is no Christian mysticism but
there is. It’s like Zen to Buddhism.
I don’t know if one can become a mysticism….but, the Christians monks in the days of old were fond of this, perhaps you should research it.
You pray to God, their is nothing mystic except the fact that He loves us.
Write it down and make a plane out of it, And throw really really hard and fast! Also you can try crossing your arms and nodding your head? Hope this helps
There is nothing mystic about Christianity.
Believe in Jesus and repent of your sins.
Hit yourself in the head with a club a few times.
we did this yesterday…no such thing…JESUS IS NOT MYSTIC…THEY ARE NOT related….choose Jesus & repent
There are subtle but significant differences between Gnosticism and Christian mysticism, so it’s somewhat of a misdirection to study Gnosticism as a door to Christian mysticism – http://mattstone.blogs.com/christian/2008/11/gnosticism-versus-christian-mysticism.html
