All that you described is what happens in the story, but you never really say what the story is about.

Also…what’s the point of the castle? Does that play a major roll in the story? Is the MC some kind of princess and that makes a difference in the story? You want to state that if it’s true.

Example of how to explain what your story is about:

Sent back through time by a magical diary, an orphaned princess must rescue the diary’s owner in order to return home.

>>See? Simple. You know:

who the mc is.
what she is…an orphan and a princess…so the castle idea fits
she finds a magical diary that forces her into an adventure (all stories force the mc into an adventure)
she must do something to save herself (come home).

As is…your definition is too wordy and doesn’t really say what your story is about.

Question by Stella: Historical Fiction Set in Ancient Rome – Any Recommendations?
I’ve already read Steven Saylor’s entire series so far of Gordianus the Finder, and Lindsey Davis’ entire Marcus Didius Falco mysteries; I loved both these series. I’m looking for another series along these lines.

They don’t have to be mysteries, but I’m not interested in anything that’s heavily battle or military-oriented. I’m more interested in great characters and storylines in the setting of ancient Rome (Pagan eras only please).

Eh, I dunno about the era, but Nobody’s Princess was kinda cute. It’s set in Sparta. Sorry, I suck at history and stuff. It’s about Helen of Sparta as a kid.

Theatre Review: The Tempest @ The Puppet Barge
One of Shakespeare’s famous tales of sorcery and spirits gets a spellbinding adaptation by Moving Stage Theatre. Stepping under the canvas banner on a barge strung with lights, we begin our journey into the imagination. As the programme notes, marionette theatre demands the audience put aside its ‘workaday’ perception (the strings are visible, and we know it’s a wooden puppet). This is, for us …
